First constructed in 1908, the Oregon Short Line Railroad played a pivotal role in helping bring new visitors to the West Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. While the section of railroad no longer remains in service, a local nonprofit, Yellowstone Shortline Trail, brought life back to the 9 miles of track by creating a paved trail for the West Yellowstone community. The trail is for non-motorized vehicles only and open to hiking, biking, running, roller skating, walking, roller skiing, skateboarding and more.
